With summer officially here, the sports universe will start to cool off a bit. But not too much to where I’ll have nothing to talk about. Ha! You know me, there’s always something to get off my chest when it comes to the world of competition as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

On the eve of summer and today being Juneteenth, a change is on the horizon as the sports landscape is about to look a little different in the coming days. I’ll explain in detail as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(6:34) With the hockey season already completed, the NBA has the stage to close out its Finals tonight as Oklahoma City looks to capture their first championship, while Indiana hopes to force a Game 7 with or without Tyrese Haliburton. How will Game 6 unfold? The Lakers are being sold for $10 billion dollars. LeBron James doesn’t understand ‘ring culture’ in the sport as he addressed it on his podcast. Do we need to remind him that he was a big part of that?

(24:31) The Florida Panthers repeat as Stanley Cup Champions with another dominant effort in Game 6 over the Edmonton Oilers. Is this team already considered a dynasty? Where do we go from here regarding Connor McDavid and the Oilers, losing a second straight Cup Finals?

(42:57) Baseball is on the verge of becoming the only major sport left. What’s going on with the New York teams as both the Yankees and Mets are mired in long losing streaks? The latter, is about to embark on a weekend road trip to Philadelphia for first place in the NL East. Are the Dodgers about to take off in the NL West after taking the first three games vs. the Padres and a chance for a four game sweep today?

Counting down to the official beginning of another season, the best season of the year…yes, that is summer. But coming at ya faster than that is the latest episode with a TON of stuff to uncover in the sports world. On deck:

(6:42) OKC showed what they were made of in Game 4 as SGA’s big fourth quarter ties the series at two. How will Game 5 and the rest of the Finals play out starting tonight? There was a huge trade in the Association as the Magic go all in on former Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane. Is he worth two players and four unprotected first round picks? Also, the Knicks head coaching search continues and where does Kevin Durant end up?

(27:17) The Florida Panthers are one win away from going back to back against the Edmonton Oilers. Not even a crushing Game 4 defeat will slow down the defending champs as they dominated Game 5 on the road. Will this series go back to Western Canada in Game 7? Or will the Panthers wrap up another championship?

(40:44) The saga between the Red Sox and Rafael Devers came to an abrupt end with the disgruntled DH getting shipped to San Francisco for two pitchers and prospects. Was this a good move by Boston? Does this make the Giants contenders in the NL? Plus, it was a lost weekend for the New York teams as they were both surprisingly swept. And Shohei Ohtani will make his Dodgers pitching debut vs. San Diego. What should we expect?

(57:35) After what was a US Open to forget, one player came up from the rubble to win the tournament. His name is JJ Spaun. I’ll recap what turned out to be a slog and a wet one at that as the third golf major of the year is already in the books.

The first week of June has plenty of sports talk to dissect as I share all that’s swirling in my head, heart and soul as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

They’ve won three in a row to increase their record to 12-50! Yankee reliever Luke Weaver is on the shelf for 4-6 weeks. How will manager Aaron Boone handle the back end of the bullpen?

(1:04:49) An exciting weekend is forthcoming at Roland Garros as tennis’s top players are still alive on both the men’s and women’s sides of the draw? Who’ll come out on top when it’s all said and done?

Kicking off the unofficial beginning of summer as we remember those who fought for our freedom in this country. Thanks to the servicemen and women who’ve done so. And thank you for being a part of this latest podcast with all that’s happening in sports. On deck:

Add Winnipeg to the list of teams that won the President’s Trophy without capturing a title as they lose in six to Dallas. And the Capitals fall way short of the Cup Finals after losing to the Hurricanes in five. I’ll preview Panthers-Hurricanes & Oilers-Stars and what Final would be the most attractive?

(54:59) Juan Soto’s return to The Bronx was forgetful as the Mets lose two out of three to the Yankees. The shocking Twins 13 game winning streak, which was snapped yesterday in Milwaukee. How about the Angels sweeping the Dodgers in LA? I’ll see what else is happening throughout the sport as Memorial Day looms next week.

(1:10:10) 49ers QB Brock Purdy signs a five year, $265 million dollar deal to stay in San Francisco. Is he worth it?

(1:15:27) Scottie Scheffler finally wins a major out of Augusta as he wins the PGA Championship yesterday. What about Jordan Spieth? Rory McIlroy?

Wrapping up another month of high octane sports talk and a rant you won’t wanna miss as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(4:10) One team has punched their ticket to the NBA Finals (Boston Celtics). We’re still waiting for the other as the Minnesota Timberwolves kept their season alive with a Game 4 win in Dallas? Will the T-wolves extend the series to six? Dare I say, seven games? I’ll recap the Celtics Game 4 win over Indiana as they’ll have a ten day layoff before the start of the Finals next Thursday.

(19:15) The Stanley Cup Conference Finals have a lot of juice as both series are even at two games apiece. First up, the Panthers clawed back to even the series with a pivotal Game 5 at MSG tonight. Who’ll end up as the East Champs as this could end up being a classic Final? Out West, the Edmonton Oilers continue their unpredictable march as they lost Game 3 after being up 2-0 in the first period. In Game 4, the Oilers came back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the series. What can we possibly expect from a team that is a chameleon from one game to the next? Could it go seven games?

(30:37) MLB has implemented the statistics from the Negro Leagues to be a part of baseball moving forward. Why I think that was the right thing for the sport to do? I’ll get into another strange interference call in last night’s Yankees-Angels game. And I’ll continue my assault from Monday’s podcast to put to rest the 2024 New York Mets. Who’s at fault? What do I think the front office, ownership should do to this underachieving, embarrassing team? It’s a rant that comes straight from the heart and gut being a diehard Met fan.

(55:01) #1 women’s player Iga Światek survived a scare from Naomi Osaka in the second round of the French Open as she came back from a 5-2 deficit in the third set to win 7-5. Was it fair for Osaka to meet Swiatek this early in the tournament?

(57:29) There’s a UFC lightweight championship at stake on Saturday night as Dustin Poirier will go up against Islam Makhachev. Is there a Poirier-Conor McGregor bout somewhere down the road?

As we remember our fallen heroes on this Memorial Day, I’ll share with you the latest podcast detailing all of what’s happening in sports. On deck:

(4:13) The NBA is facing a big time conundrum. Both conference finals are one win away from punching their tickets to a Final. The issue is if both series conclude over the next 30 something hours from now, there will be nine days between the end of Dallas-Minnesota and Game 1 of the NBA Finals. What can the league do about that? I’ll get into how both the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks have gotten to this point. What does this mean for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Indiana Pacers? Do they have at least one big time game in them to extend these series? Also, why did the Cleveland Cavaliers fire coach JB Bickerstaff?

(24:52) The New York Rangers have rebounded after being shut out in Game 1 with two overtime wins over the Florida Panthers to take a 2-1 series lead. How will the Panthers respond to two tough defeats? The Dallas Stars have evened their series vs. the Edmonton Oilers after dropping Game 1 in double OT. Will the Stars continue their road dominance? What about the Oilers taking advantage of home ice? Off the ice, the Devils hired former Maple Leafs coach, Sheldon Keefe to man the bench over the next few years. Was that a surprise?

(33:30) As we approach the first barometer of the baseball season, there are only FIVE teams that can win a World Series. Baltimore, NY Yankees, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Los Angeles Dodgers. I’ll separate a lot of the pretenders and explain why these teams won’t be a part of the Fall Classic in October or even win it? NOTE: It was during this segment that I read the news of NBA great, Bill Walton had passed away due to cancer at 71. I spent a few minutes discussing his legacy and career. I had to unpack the Mets as being a team that’s a pretender for 2024. I’m not ready to bury them completely, but the dirt has already been thrown on them.

(51:34) Rafael Nadal made his return to a surface that he’s no doubt been the best player ever on it. The clay courts of Roland Garros at the French Open. He went in as a wild card (unseeded) and faced a formidable opponent in Alexander Zverev. He lost in the first round in straight sets. Could this be the end of Rafa as we know it?

(56:12) Josef Newgarden is your Indianapolis 500 winner for the second straight year. That hasn’t been done in 22 years. There was a little controversy surrounding a cheating scandal regarding a race strategist. Will there be any consequences over such a thing?

(58:05) I wrap up with some very sad news in golf as Grayson Murray, who had two wins on the PGA Tour, took his own life over the weekend at the age of 30.

The unofficial beginning of summer is on the horizon! And so is the latest podcast, covering ALL that’s happening in the world of sports. On deck:

(5:04) After spending a moment taking a peek at what lies ahead over the weekend in sports, the NBA is front and center as both Game 1’s in the Conference Finals are in the books. The Dallas Mavericks take the home court away from the Minnesota Timberwolves and give them something to think about heading into Game 2. Will the T’wolves respond? As for the East, the Boston Celtics stole Game 1. Or did the Indiana Pacers give it away? You can say a bit of both as the Celtics are thankful to get the first game of the series out of the way. How will this series unfold after a crushing Game 1 loss for the Pacers?

(19:15) On the ice, Game 1 of the Western Conference commences this evening as the Edmonton Oilers hung on to beat the Vancouver Canucks in a Game 7 for the right to play the Dallas Stars. I’ll preview who’ll come out of the conference as the Stars have been stout, but have had some lapses so far this postseason and the Oilers have been up and down, but survived two rounds. In the East, the Florida Panthers drew first blood against the Rangers at MSG to steal home ice from the top seeded Broadway Blueshirts. This is the beginning of, I think, will be a wild and hotly contested series.

(32:14) How about the high flying Fightin’ Philadelphia Phillies? They have the best record after 50 games since the 2001 Seattle Mariners. Are they THAT good? I’ll also show some love to the Kansas City Royals as they’re off to their best start as well. Will the continue to keep this up? I’ll survey the baseball landscape as we get set for a holiday weekend on the diamond.

(47:36) The second Grand Slam on the tennis calendar is approaching as the French Open is just days away. The two big storylines are as follows. Will Rafael Nadal play on his favorite surface? And will anyone beat back to back French Open champion, Iga Swiatek?

(53:55) With the rage of many people on top of Formula 1 racing, why is the Indianapolis 500 not getting any love? As the historically popular race is set for this coming Sunday.
